I shot this SUPER FUN (don't hate on my poor grammer..I'm excited! YOU BETTA RECKONIZE!!!) movie trailer that just went online. BLESS THIS SHOW

Let me tell you how good Friday Night Lights is. We put the kids to
bed, and settled down to watch the show on our PVR, and I got out of
bed and got my stepson Hunter in to watch it, because it's so good I
didn't want him to miss it.

It's so good it gets me all choked up even though I couldn't care
less about football and I've never lived in anything smaller than a
small city. Or in the South.

Boy, I hope people in the Red States are watching it, too. If they're
not it might be because it's too close to home; it certainly feels
real and true and gripping.

The second episode ends on a wee bit of a cliffhanger, and Hunter was
shrieking in mock torment that he has to wait six more days to find
out how the game went. He suggested that the show could be used to
torture prisoners. "Tell us what we want to know or we won't let you
watch the next episode!"

Now that's good tv.

Tomorrow is the last day of filming for Friday Night Lights. Great group, Peter is a brilliant leader as a director. Entertainment Weekly wrote that it was the most anticipated new series for NBC for the fall. NBC recently received the rights to broadcast NFL games, and there will be a lot of cross promotion. Updates to come.

2.22.2006 --FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS TV PILOT--
I'm starting work tomorrow on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, the television pilot. It is written and directed by Peter Berg, the director of the feature, and it's good...really good. I'll be playing Mrs. Street, the mother of the star quarterback. It's a great role...recurring character.

I just got off a 10 hour shift on my feet and I don't know if it's the sheer exhaustion speaking, but I laughed my ass off when John Bryant forwarded me the link to this review. LOVE that the short was compared to Pinter as a Freudian case study.

Just screened an amazing movie at the Austin Film Festival: SPECIAL THANKS TO ROY LONDON.  Roy London was the acclaimed acting teacher of  Geena Davis, Sharon Stone, Brad Pitt, Famke Jannsen, and Garry Shandling among others.  He was just an amazing human being.  When you encounter someone who in death can transcend your life's work into healing the world, you know you've witnessed greatness.

Just returned from Dallas and Shreveport from a road trip auditioning marathon.  I had the best driving companion, actress Angela Rawna.  I love that girl.  Casting notices to come.

10.17.2005 --THE GRADUATE--
Just finished filming AMC DATE NIGHT.  The movie we discussed was THE GRADUATE. I was so glad it was a movie I loved.  I got to point out Richard Dreyfuss' cameo at the apartment complex at Burkley: "Should I get the cops.  I'll call the cops..." as well as Normal Fell in the beginning of his career appearances as a landlord.

9.30.2005 --TOP SECRET AUDITION--
I had a top secret audition today for a film who's director and title's name I cannot speak. I literally had to sign a confidentiality agreement upon arriving at the super-secret audition location.  I would LURVE to be part of the film.  It wasn't one of those parts that I could cry or die better than the other actresses, so there's this knowledge that the selection process is somewhat arbitrary.  That always bites for me.  I like the feeling of walking away knowing that I owned the part.

9.28.2005  --SERENITY SCREENING--
Attended the Alamo Drafthouse's Rolling Roadshow screening of Serenity.  I was shocked that I won tickets by submitting to a poetry contest; I wrote the piece-of-crap poem in 2 minutes or less.  Harry Knowles enlightened me with the information that there were so many poems that got cut for obscenity, that the pickin's were slim. It all makes sense now.

9.20.2005 --DOUGLAS McGRATH--
I received a lovely hand-written note from Douglas McGrath, the writer/director of the Truman Capote bio-pic "HAVE YOU HEARD?" .  He praised my performance in the film, told me to use him as a reference for any director or casting director and that his "enthusiasm for my talent remains in place".  I was so touched that he wrote me personally and was so supportive of my work.

I worked on the short film "MAMMA's BOY", with John Bryant and Jason Foxworth, creators of the pee-in-your-pants comedy short "OH MY GOD".  I met John at Sundance earlier this year and jumped at the chance to work with him.

So I was driving home after wrapping on "jumping off bridges", when I got a surprise phone call from Allen Salkin, the person responsible for the New York Times article that set off my crazy media ride for Festivus . 5.3.2005 --RICHARD LINKLATER and FAST FOOD NATION--
Participated in a table read with Richard Linklater and Eric Schlosser of "FAST FOOD NATION". The script is inspired by Schlosser's non-fiction expose of the same title. Linklater had a quiet shyness--totally beguiling. What was intriguing about Schlosser is that he's gone on to be the champion for migrant workers and bringing the issues discussed in his book to Congress. Amazing to meet someone who's reaching beyond the minutia of their lives to be a force for good and change. I felt honored to be a part of the read. 4.29.2005 --REVOLVER AND AUSTIN LIVE MUSIC--
"REVOLVER" is wrapping this weekend. I've spent the last few weeks playing Sam Shepard's wife in the thriller starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Best part of this shoot: working with Sam and getting out to see some live music. It's tragic that people from out of town know more hot spots and musical talent in Austin than I do. My loyalty to Bob Schneider is expanding to other local musicians...gotta spread the love.

4.1.2005 --LAS VEGAS and SIN CITY--
I was in Las Vegas for the last four days shooting a film for the Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos. I wrapped at 3:30 am Thursday morning, jumped on a plane at 8:45 am and went straight from the airport it to the Austin premiere of "SIN CITY"...was changing my clothes in the car. GO SEE SIN CITY. It's like nothing you've ever seen. I'm going to collapse now.

3.26.2005 --WORKING GIRL--
The last 2 weeks have been insane. SXSW Film Festival segued right into filming on "EVERY WORD IS TRUE". It was a blessed set. Everyone, I mean everyone, was amazing. Amazing project, amazing actors (I'm totally enamored...seriously), amazing director, crew...amazing. Started on Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos Las Vegas shoot yesterday. See shopping list for shoot. "SIN CITY" premieres in Austin March 31st. Will arrive from the Las Vegas set of the Hard Rock shoot within an hour of the screening.

I was interviewed in St. Louis, where I was titled as THE MATRON OF FESTIVUS, NPR in Seattle, on a local Austin ABC news station, then in Paula Zahn's CNN show. Returned from L.A. and dove right into the Austin Film Festival. Got to see my friend Barry Blaustein, who directed "THE RINGER" speak and hung out a minute. Garry Shandling was amazing in his meeting. Met at the after-party of the "FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS" premiere. Prince of a man, very thoughtful, calm energy. Had a lovely visit with him in L. A. during the party. Also reconnected with Harry Knowles. We first met on the set of "THE FACULTY". He's a big ball of coolness.

Returning to Austin today. Am emotionally and physically exhausted but exhilarated. Rehearsals were unbelievable and looks like I'll be spending 6 weeks starting Feb 2005 filming the Thriller/Horror film "Zero Hour".

Unbelievable. The Friday Night Lights Premiere was at Grauman's Chinese Theater. The after-party was at the Kodak Theater. Was an amazing time. Got to rub shoulders with people in the industry I respect so much, and tried to stay clear of a few people who were just creepy. Got invited to the Playboy Mansion for Halloween.

Had a callback with Mike Judge for the yet to be retitled "3001". He was great. We had a great rapport. My husband was waiting in the parking lot so I could drive him to surgery. It was an a-typical meeting, but always fun.

It's been a crazy 24 hours. Saw the midnight screening of HELLBOY last night. So much fun. Ron Pearlman was a sweetheart and met lots of cool people out in the line. The redesign continues. Latest update. Images and video still need to be added...bit by bit.

Went to a lake in Florida to work on a screenplay last week. Was nice to be alone and was very productive. Was cast in "Except for Danny", but a family emergency is taking me out of town this weekend.
